This is a urgent notice of forest activity in 39S R5W S16 commonly known as Clapboard.
This property was previously owned by Josephine County and sold in a land auction in 2024. The start date will be August 15 and end Dec 31st 2025.
Expect logging trucks on East Fork and Clapboard Road.
Activity is Clear-cut/Overstory removal by cable and ground. This method is highly destructive.
The 320 acres is divided into three sections totaling 285 acres and removal of 4000 MBF. They have to divide into sections because the PNW Forest Accord prevents clearcutting of over 120 acres, so by dividing this parcel, they are working around that rule.
Clapboard houses Clapboard Creek, a year around fish bearing stream .The units contain slopes above 60%.
Owner is Thomas Ireland Cascade West, Inc. (aka Ireland Investments)
PO Box 338
Dillard, Oregon 97432

Please tell the owner to use selective logging methods. Clear-cut logging causes erosion, fire danger, and decreased water quality and quantity and subsequent herbicide use will cause harm to fish, wildlife and our community.
Thank you
WCFP
