WCFP Welcomes a New Forest Watch Coordinator

Williams Community Forest Project is excited to announce the retention of the services of Tyanna Smith to help monitor our commercial forest activities. Tyanna will aid in acquiring and maintaining knowledge of forest activities and conditions in the Williams creek watershed through information collected from the US Forest Service, BLM, FERNS, outreach and on the ground evidence from the forest. Tyanna as the Forest Watch Coordinator will develop a plan of action and with the help of volunteers, monitor forest activities, inform the public and ensure that our forests are being managed  according to established best practices.

Climate change is threatening our existence with wildfires, drought and habitat  elimination. We have a responsibility to mitigate climate change by sequestering as much carbon as possible in our forests by protecting them. The Forest Watch coordinator and volunteers will be WCFP’s eyes and feet on the forest.
